What is Endermology?
Endermologie is deep-tissue massage treatment used to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The first cellulite treatment to be approved by the Food & Drug Administration, Endermologie has no downtime, and it’s less invasive than other cellulite treatments like Cellfina (which cuts the fibrous bands that pull down skin and cause dimples).
The device was initially developed by French engineer Louis-Paul Guitay (LPG) in the 1980s to loosen scar tissue from burns and muscle damage he suffered in a car accident. Physical therapists and patients soon discovered it was effective at reducing the appearance of cellulite, too.
Most people use Endermologie, sometimes called lipomassage, as a cellulite treatment for the thighs and butt, but it’s also safe to use on other areas.
Some doctors also use it as a complement liposuction or other fat-reduction body treatments. By stimulating the lymphatic system, Endermologie encourages your body to drain excess fluids, which reduces swelling and inflammation and shortens liposuction recovery time.
Because it’s a form of massage therapy, the treatment can also help relieve muscle aches and pains, along with improving skin tone and general circulation.
Endermologie is also known to reduce swelling and inflammation such as lymphedema. Lymphedema refers to swelling that generally occurs in one of your arms or legs. Sometimes both arms or both legs swell.
